The United South Central baseball team concluded the regular season Friday with a gritty 2-1 victory over Waseca at Tink Larson Field in Waseca.
Junior Anthony Stenzel drove in the game-winning run in the fifth inning for the Rebels (12-8, 8-3 Gopher) and senior A.J. Dreyer allowed one run on four hits in seven innings.
“Anytime you win a one-run game in May that’s a great thing,” said USC head coach Pat Frank. “I told the kids you don’t always have to play great baseball, you just have to win.”
Senior William Huper and junior Eric Lackey each went 1-for-3.
The Rebels face Saint Clair in Wells to open the section playoffs Tuesday.
