Both the girls’ and boys’ golf teams for United South Central claimed subsection championships Tuesday at the subsection meet at Rose Lake Golf Course in Fairmont.

The Rebel boys scored a seven-stroke victory over Martin County West to advance to the section meet June 3 at North Links Golf Course in Mankato.

USC shot 349 and got a third-place finish from junior Sam Gackstetter, who shot 80. Seventh-grader Nate Pederson finished fourth with an 83 and eighth-grader Seth Olson finished fifth with an 84. Senior Erik Willaby rounded out the scores with a 95.

The Rebel girls won by five strokes against Martin County West and the rest of the field.

Freshman Ali Wood took second at the meet with a 94 while junior Erinn Hotzler and eighth-grader Claire Chrisitan shot 104s. Senior Genna Anderson and Veronica Schindler each had 116s.
