Wolverines softball has win streak snapped

After a slow start to the season the Glenville-Emmons softball team started to show signs of improvement this week with a pair of victories, but the Wolverines weren’t able to carry that momentum through to Friday against Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain in a 5-2 loss in Glenville.
The Knights took advantage of three walks in the second inning to score four runs and take a 4-0 lead and the Wolverines offense didn’t produce any runs until the sixth inning.
Glenville-Emmons (3-8, 3-3 SEC) outhit ML/GHEC 8-6, but stranded too many runners and struck out seven times against Knights starter Bethany Flohrs.
Flohrs threw seven innings and gave up just two runs on eight hits and walked just one for the victory.
Junior Robyn Roe went 3-for-3 with a run and a double for the Wolverines while senior Megan Rasmussen went 2-for-3 and junior Alayna Hall 2-for-4.
“We gotta get hits together,” said Glenville-Emmons head coach Lisa Ziebell.
Wolverines junior starter Kailey Davis gave up five runs on six hits and struck out six, but walked five batters.
After the second Davis pitched strongly and allowed just a run in the fifth.
“To me, as the game goes on she gets stronger,” Ziebell said.
Glenville-Emmons faces Lyle/Pacelli Monday in Lyle.
