The championship was truly a team win over the wind-swept Twin Cities course. The lowest scoring Tiger was 14th in individual ranking by Banton and Christian at 159 each, followed by Nelson at 163 and Montei at 166.

With the state title, the Tiger golfers’ journey included first place finishes in the sub-region, region 1AA, then followed by the state team victory.

Coach Ken Ulman has a strong nucleus of linksmen for the 1983 year. He previously had an individual state champion with Mark Knutson in 1973 and another individual title holder with Chad Adams in 1989.

Ulman’s golf coaching career for 28 years, from 1963 through 1991, included 205 wins and 110 losses.
