A large black bear was reported running through a field on the south side of Freeborn County Road 1 between 830th Avenue and 840th Avenue on Sunday morning. The bear was spotted when a Hayward resident was returning from church at Faith Lutheran Church in London.

A spokesman for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources contacted the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office at 4:13 p.m. Tuesday with this advice regarding a bear reportedly seen along the state line area. His advice: ”People need to just leave the bear alone and take their bird feeders in and it will just go way.”

Billfold reportedly taken

A billfold was taken from Glenville-Emmons High School, according to a report made to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday. The name of the billfold’s owner was not listed on the report.
