Both Eighth Avenue Northeast and the adjacent bike trail near Dobbins Creek in Austin are scheduled to reopen on Thursday, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
A section of 10th Place Northeast near Dobbins Creek will remain closed until mid-July, weather permitting. This road closure affects the portion of 10th Place Northeast passing over and immediately surrounding Dobbins Creek. Construction crews will continue working on the box culvert and enhancing the sanitary sewer system, as requested by the city of Austin. Access will be maintained to all businesses and residents through the duration of this closure, which began June 1.
Construction of the Dobbins Creek box culvert is expected to be completed in August. The “Bridges of Mower County” project, including the Turtle Creek eastbound Interstate 90 bridge and the I-90 Business Loop flyover bridge, is on schedule to be completed by September, weather permitting.
Lunda Construction is the primary contractor for this $12.8 million project, which includes four bridge replacements.
