Colonels fall to Aces

The Albert Lea Colonels (0-8 overall, 0-5 conference) looked to get into the win column on Wednesday as they traveled to Owatonna to take on the Aces.
Tate Cummins threw six innings and allowed only two hits for Owatonna, while the Aces scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat the Albert Lea Colonels 10-0.
Owatonna struck first in the bottom of the first inning as they put three runs on the board to take a 3-0 early lead.
Colby Strilaeff took the loss for the Colonels.
Strilaeff allowed four hits and three runs over two innings of work.
Tate Cummins recorded the win for Owatonna.
Cummins allowed two hits and struck out five over six innings.
Owatonna held Albert Lea to only three hits on the night.
Connor Kortan, Carter Kortan and Jared Matson each had a hit for the Colonels.
One of the highlights in the game was the play of catcher Connor Kortan.
“Connor Kortan threw out two base runners on attempted steals,” Albert Lea Colonels coach Bill Trygstad said. “He kept their running game down.”
With the loss, the Colonels fall to 0-8 on the year.
The next two games find Albert Lea on the road. The Colonels travel to New Richland on Saturday night and then to Wells on Sunday.
