Internet makes finding facts harder

I think there is some misunderstanding of my last letter to the editor. The first line of my letter read “Who’s the source of your information?” That was changed by the editor to the more inflammatory headline “Comment makers not upstanding folks.” My comments were directed at the readers of anonymous posts. A couple of quotes from a newspaper article may help get this point across.
“The groups also argue that the Internet has made it more difficult for the public to separate ‘the facts from bigotry masquerading as news,’ The Hill newspaper reports.
“Moreover, on the Internet, speakers can hide in the cloak of anonymity, emboldened to say things that they may not say in the public eye.”
With political season upon us I think it is important for readers of these posts to understand these points.
