Funeral services for Lezlie Lois Carlsen, 58, of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. The Rev. Matt Griggs will officiate. Interment will be in the Central Freeborn Cemetery on Monday. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lezlie died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family.
Lezlie Lois Carlsen was born on Aug. 24, 1951, to Leon and Leona (Wipplinger) Roberts in Hawarden, Iowa. She grew up in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1969. On July 26, 1969, Lezlie married Jim Carlsen at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Albert Lea and Lezlie worked at Kwik Trip for 21 years. She was a member of Women of the Moose and the Hiawathaland Corvette Association. Lezlie enjoyed camping, going out for dinner, playing cards and vacationing. She spent time on many Harley-Davidson motorcycle rides and Corvette cruises. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; daughters: Marcy Thompson (Keith Maletta), Teresa Rohl, Lacy Carlsen, Erin Carlsen (Steven Schmidt), and Krystal Carlsen (Kevin Anderson); grandchildren: Trevor Carlsen, Skylar Peterson, Shyann and Gem Olson, Alexander, Chase and Hunter Schmidt and one more on the way; mother, Leona Roberts; brothers and sisters: Collin (Barbara) Roberts, Gretchen Hulleman, Anna (Robert) Hernandez, RaNae Roberts, Leon (Carrie) Roberts and Leona (Phil) Helland; mother-in-law, JoAnn Carlsen; brother-in-law, Randy (Sandy) Carlsen; sister-in-law, Cathy (Phil) Hensche; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lezlie was preceded in death by her father, Leon Roberts; father-in-law, Darrell Carlsen; and special family members: Amy Burgett and Ross Thompson.
