Summer programs with Arc

The Arc of Freeborn County has summer programs available for studentswho have cognitive, intellectual or developmental disabilities and theirsiblings. The Teen Club, for students ages 13-21, will meet on Mondaysand Wednesdays beginning June 16. Kids Klub, for children ages 6 to 12 years, will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning June 17. Both sessions will meet from noon to 3 p.m. at the Arc activity room at 407E. William St., Albert Lea., and will run for eight weeks. Participantswill share in a variety of activities, including indoor and outdoor games,music, arts and crafts, cooking, outings to restaurants, parks and othercommunity sites.
Arc staff are trained to provide general assistance to children who havelow to moderate special needs. Staff-to-child ratio will be approximately one staff member or volunteer for every four children. Children whorequire more assistance should have a personal care attendant with themwhile at Arc.
Participation fees for both the Teen Club and Kids’ Klub are $40 for Arc members and $52 for non-members. Fees help cover the cost ofrefreshments (including lunch one day a week), craft supplies, andrecreational fees for the full eight weeks. Or, parents may choose topay for each day their child attends. Daily fees are $3 for Arcmembers and $4 for nonmembers. If more than one family memberattends, the fee for the second child is half price. Scholarships areavailable for students who have developmental disabilities.
