An 18-year-old Hutchinson woman was expected to be charged in Steele County District Court on Wednesday with motor vehicle theft and driving while intoxicated after she allegedly took a vehicle from a Clarks Grove residence and was later found with it in Ellendale.
Breanna Jaynell Heldt faces one count of motor vehicle theft and one count of gross misdemeanor fourth-degree DWI after she was arrested on Sunday around 9:30 p.m. in a residential part of Ellendale, said Assistant Steele County Attorney Christy Hormann.
The automobile Heldt was reportedly driving was a 2004 GMC Yukon, which authorities later discovered was stolen from a family who live adjacent to Harmony Park at 79031 298th St., Clarks Grove.
Freeborn County Sheriff Mark Harig said Steele County deputies contacted Freeborn County deputies Sunday night and asked them to contact the owners of the Yukon that Heldt had been driving.
The family who owned the vehicle also found that someone had been inside their home when they were gone, but nothing had been taken.
Authorities have not been able to connect this to Heldt.
