As an animal and pet lover, I’d like to make a couple of comments. First to those of you walking dogs in the parade, please provide your animals with water along the route, even a squirt from a water bottle would help in the kind of heat and humidity we had on July 3. It should go without saying that you should carry bags to clean up after your dog; obviously, some people have to be told explicitly.

Secondly, please dig deep in your pockets to help the Humane Society with their building project. It is unfortunate that it has lost the funds put into an account with the abstract company currently involved in legal issues. Towns much smaller are able to care for abandoned and neglected animals in humane society shelters; do they have more animal lovers than we do?
