Community sew day announced

Freeborn County quilters and sewers who are interested in coming together to sew projects for people in need are invited to the first-ever Community Sew Day on Sept. 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Crossroads Church.
At the event, participants can choose between four project kits: a girl’s pullover dress (these will be sent to an orphanage in Jamaica); a uniform bag (these will be used to put items in that can be used at a children’s home in Columbia); a child’s quilt (for children ages 3 to 8); and a larger quilt for older kids and adults. The quilts will be given to local agencies including the Crime Victims Crisis Center, Salvation Army and Youth For Christ.
Participants will be given everything they need to complete their projects. They just need to bring their sewing machine, scissors and pins, along with a sack lunch.
Ironing boards, rotary cutters and mats, tables and cords, and small refreshments will be provided.
