Leo Schultz

Leo C. Schultz, 77, of Victoria, has passed. He was born in Albert Lea on Feb. 9, 1933, to Frank and Cecelia Schultz. Leo attended elementary school at St. Theodore Catholic School. He was a 1952 graduate of Albert Lea High School where he excelled in sports. He attended the college of St. Thomas for two years and then entered the United States Army where he served from 1954 to 1956. Leo continued his education at Mankato State College, graduating in 1959. He taught social studies in Henderson, Nev., Orange City, Iowa, and Minnetonka. For more than 30 years he continued his love of sports by combining his teaching career with the coaching of football, basketball, baseball and track. After retirement he continued to coach football and basketball at Minnetonka. He was a dedicated son, brother, husband, dad and grandpa, who lead by example and loved unconditionally.
He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Mark Bratrud; parents: Frank and Cecelia Schultz; brothers: Raymond, Alvin, Alton and Robert Schultz; sister, Lorraine Stam; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Millie Schultz, Delores Schultz, Bill Heiny, Damon and Edith Schulenberg, Johannes Magelssen, Lila Glantz and Deryl Arnold; and parents-in-law: Bernhard and Clara Johnsrud.
He is survived by wife, Barbara A.; children: Susan Bratrud, Paul (Maggy) Schultz and Mark (Lori) Schultz; grandchildren: Benjamin, Nicholas and Grace Bratrud, Gretta and Joseph Schultz, and Jack and Mary Schultz; sisters: Margaret Schultz and Irene Heiny; brother, Roger Schultz; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Evelyn Schultz, Harriet and John Menke, Dorothy Magelssen, Vic Glantz, Bendy and Donna Johnsrud, Cora Arnold, Janet and Herman Stenga; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial was Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria. Interment was at St. Victoria Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or St. Victoria Catholic Church.
