Republicans say one thing and do another

I find the recent letter from David Anderson of Lonsdale to be slightly confusing. He claims that GOP legislators are the ones who want to make budget cuts to address our state deficit, while Democrats refuse to do so. In fact, the exact opposite is true. In the recent legislative session, it was Democrats who put forward a responsible budget bill that cut spending to every area of the budget except K-12 Education and Health and Human Services. It was also Democrats who passed this bill and sent it to the governor — without the help of a single GOP vote.

If the Republicans are so keen on cutting government, why didn’t they vote for these cuts when they had the opportunity? We need leadership and the ability to make tough choices from our elected officials, not legislators who say one thing and do something else.
