Veryl Haines, 77

Veryl Eugene Haines, 77, of Brownsdale, died July 4, 2010, at Fieldcrest Care Center, Hayfield. He was born April 28, 1933, to Harry and Sarah (Hauger) Haines in Hayward and grew up in Glenville. Veryl married Patricia Ann Lee on Dec.14, 1952. They made their home in Austin for a short time before moving to Tacoma, Wash. When they returned to Austin, Veryl worked at a tree-trimming company until he was hired at Universal Co-op in Albert Lea where he worked for many years before retirement. A member of Grace Lutheran Church in Austin, Veryl lived in Brownsdale for the past three years. He liked to talk and joke with friends, watch sports on television, go to casinos, play bingo and spend time with family, especially the grandchildren.
Survivors include his son, Michael (Sandra) Haines of Chicago, Ill.; three daughters: Vicky (Leo) Wold of Mason City, Iowa, Teresa (Ed) Walsh of Brownsdale and Darla Haines of Red Wing; eight grandchildren: William and Katy Wold, Laura, Anna and Gayle Haines, Amy Forman, Cory Harpuder and Courtney Thompson; four great-grandchildren: Jade and Adison Hanson, Kyle Foreman and Braden Halverson; two brothers: John Haines of Albert Lea and Robert (Dee) Haines of Wert; two sisters: Martha (Harry) Tasker of Albert Lea and Betty (Robert) Tasker of Alden. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Patricia; six brothers: Clinton, Edwin, Duane, Vernon, Charles and Leland; two sisters: Bertha and Fern; his parents: Sarah and Harry Haines.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. Jeffrey Forbes officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Fairview Cemetery, Hayfield.
