You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.

Reading Partners: School resumes in a few weeks and children will again need adults to help them develop reading skills. Give an hour or two a week to help one child gain skill and confidence as a reader. Training is provided in early September so you don’t need more than a love of reading and a concern for children. Call Pat at 377-7433 to help.

Volunteer Driver: Seniors from across Freeborn County can maintain their independence even if they are no longer able to drive to their appointments. Ride Services of Freeborn County needs additional drivers — one day a week or several. Sometimes drivers are needed to go to Rochester or Minneapolis, but often it is just around town. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage. Call Marilyn at 377-7433 for further details.
