Iowa man in critical condition after collision near New Richland

NEW RICHLAND — A 58-year-old Iowa man was seriously injured Sunday afternoon after a car reportedly crossed over the center line of Highway 30 one mile east of New Richland and hit his motorcycle head on.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the incident took place just after 2 p.m.
The driver of the motorcycle, Ronald Berschman, Buffalo Center, Iowa, was flown by Mayo One to St. Marys Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The report states Erica Nelson, 21, Faribault, was driving eastbound in a 2005 Nissan Altima on Highway 30 at the time of the incident when she reportedly crossed over the center line and hit westbound Berschman who was riding a 2010 Harley-Davidson.
The Waseca County Sheriff’s Office, North Ambulance and New Richland Ambulance and Fire also responded.
As of Sunday night, it was unknown whether alcohol was in Nelson’s system.
