Higher Power, a gospel music quartet based out of Des Moines, Iowa, will be in concert at The United Methodist Church in Albert Lea on Sunday. Sunday morning service will begin at 9 a.m. The ministry of Higher Power started 15 years ago and provides concerts and worship services extensively in the eight Midwestern states.
Higher Power sings gospel, southern gospel, progressive gospel, a cappella and contemporary music in its concerts. A typical concert with Higher Power is filled with music, ministry moments, testimony and reflection. Higher Power provides concerts for churches, community celebrations and special concert events. The quartet has also provided concerts for two marriage enrichment seminars held in the Caribbean and has opened for the Gaither Homecoming Tour.
The ministry has always been centered out of Des Moines, Iowa, although the members of the group live in several of the surrounding communities.
Members of the group include, Nate Bradford (lead) from Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Mark Moklestad (high tenor) from Sheldahl, Iowa; Rod Johnson (baritone/lead) from Windsor Heights, Iowa, Steve Mickelson (bass) from Kelley, Iowa. Each of the members has a long history of musical experiences. These experiences range from singing with family groups, singing in elementary, junior high, high school, and college choirs, singing with other gospel groups and singing for home church programs.
