Rebels eliminated from state tourney
The United South Central American Legion baseball team’s first trip to the state tournament in 53 years ended Saturday, with a 6-0 loss to Holdingford.
The Rebels struggled finding gaps in the defense, being held scoreless on four hits.
“We went up north and left our bats south,” USC coach Pat Frank said. “You’ve got to hit to win ballgames and we just didn’t get that accomplished.”
Dustin Dylla took the mound for Rebels and pitched a complete game. He pitched well enough to win, giving up two earned runs on nine hits.
“It was a good year,” Frank said. “The kids had a blast and competed hard, we just ran into a buzz saw this weekend.”
Anthony Stenzel led the USC offense with a single and a double, Nick Fure had a double and Jason Huper had a single for the fourth hit.
