NORTHWOOD, Iowa — Chapter 790 President Jerry Parmley of the Vietnam Veterans of America is inviting all veterans of all eras of service to a free all-veterans barbecue picnic on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Swensrud Park in Northwood, Iowa, to honor servicemen from around the region.

The event has grown larger every year as word of the social event has spread among veterans over the past years.

“Bringing veterans of all services from all eras together is what this event is all about,” said Parmley.

The event was moved from Lake Mills, Iowa, to Northwood’s Swensrud Park last year to accommodate the larger attendance and for expansion.

Veterans and guests attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
