An Austin man was held up with what appeared to be a kitchen fork at around midnight Monday evening.
The 27-year-old man, who has asked to remain unnamed, was walking near Subway on the 1400 block of 4th St. NW when two men approached him. The man wielding the alleged fork was described as a six-foot tall African-American wearing gray sweatpants and a dark shirt. The other man was also approximately six-feet tall and wearing dark clothing; his ethnicity is unknown.
The men fled west behind Subway after the victim gave them three dollars in quarters. The suspects have yet to be located.
The incident, if tried in court, would be considered strong armed robbery.
“I wouldn’t say this is typical, but we’ve had similar armed robberies like this,” police chief Brian Krueger said. “Not necessarily with a fork, though.”
