Gordonsville man arrested for allegedly growing marijuana

James Baley, 51, rural Gordonsville, was arrested Tuesday for fifth-degree possession of marijuana and booked and released on that charge. The Freeborn County Attorney’s Office will issue a summons and complaint on Baley at a later date.
On Tuesday at approximately 2:20 p.m., Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies and agents from the South Central Drug Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at the Baley property on 830th Avenue in Shell Rock Township east of Gordonsville.
Deputies and agents reportedly seized 94 marijuana plants listed as growing and drying at the Baley property. There were 15 large plants growing in the garden that had been freshly watered. There were also 35 smaller plants growing in tubs in the yard and 44 marijuana plants drying in a building.
