Reedie L. (Johnson) Nelson, 50, of Scarville, Iowa, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, Iowa, with the Rev. Randy Baldwin officiating. Burial will be in the Silver Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street in Lake Mills, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Reedie Nelson

Reedie Lee (Johnson) Nelson was born on July 23, 1960, in Albert Lea the daughter of Duane and Virginia (Svendsen) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Reedie attended and graduated from Alden High School, and went on to attend beauty school in Albert Lea. Following school, Reedie was employed as a beautician in Bricelyn.

On May 19, 2001, Reedie was united in marriage with Bruce Nelson at Silver Lake Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Scarville, and Reedie worked for Fleetguard/Cummins Filtration for twenty years.

Reedie enjoyed flower gardening, fishing for bullheads and playing with her dogs. Her pride and joy was her daughter, Heather, and they would make time to bake and cook together.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce and daughter, Heather of Scarville, Iowa; parents, Duane and Virginia Johnson of Albert Lea; two brothers: Marty (Peggy) Johnson of Alden and Danny (Lisa) Johnson of Albert Lea; and aunts and uncles, Goldie Svendsen of Cambridge, Ill., Dallas Svendsen of Albert Lea, Sharon Leegard of Kentucky and Janice Johnson of Hayfield, Iowa. Reedie is also survived by Bruce’s brothers and sisters: Gloria (Wayne) Fjelstad of Iowa City, Iowa, Karen (Don) Forside of White Bear Lake, John (Cathy) Nelson of Emmons and Steve (Vickie) Nelson of Emmons; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a brother, Rick Duane Johnson.
