The Albert Lea girls’ swimming and diving team was no match for Owatonna Tuesday night, as the Huskies downed the Tigers 96-84.

Albert Lea had a second-place finish in nearly every event, but could not compete against the stronger Owatonna team, who captured first-place in each event.

Even though it was a disappointing meet for the girls, there were a few great swims.

Sophomore Kemma Bergland had a personal best time in the 200 freestyle, swimming a section qualifying 2 minutes 13.7 seconds to finish in second-place. Senior Amy Horejsi continued to cut time in the 100 butterfly, finishing in second-place with a time of 1:07.80. Also having a personal best time Tuesday night was eighth-grader Carly Nelson, who swam a section qualifying 1:16.44 in the 100 butterfly to finish in-third place.

The Tigers have some tough meets ahead of them, starting with the Austin Invite on Saturday and then facing Faribault next Tuesday at home.
