Albert Lea’s junior varsity football team Monday defeated Winona by a final score of 20-14. The win evened the Tigers’ record at 1-1.

A strong running game complimented by an effective passing attack paced the Albert Lea offense.

“I thought our offensive line, for the most part, picked up their passing assignments well,” Albert Lea coach Garry Abben said.

The Albert Lea defense shined with an aggressive style that continually pressured the Winhawk’s offense.

“We forced some big turnovers when we needed them, our defense really played well,” Abben said.

Abben, along with Rick Harves, coaches the Tiger junior varsity squad.

Albert Lea travels to Owatonna Monday for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.
