Unclaimed abstracts from Albert Lea Abstract Co. are being transferred to Minnesota Abstract & Title Co. over the next few weeks, according to a news release Friday from Kenneth R. White, lawyer for Albert Lea Abstract.
All people who believe their abstracts were being held by Albert Lea Abstract prior to the police search of the company June 22, will be able to contact Minnesota Abstract & Title after Oct. 15 to make arrangements to pick up their documents.
Albert Lea Abstract will no longer be distributing abstracts except on an emergency basis.
The company attempted to connect the company’s customers with their abstracts during a series of hours Sept. 14, 16 and 21 at the business, 205 S. Washington Ave., for the first time since the police search; however, many abstracts were not claimed.
Many of the documents had been seized by police during the investigation into the company’s owner, Linda Tuttle, a former Freeborn County commissioner.
Tuttle has since been accused of using her company to divert money into her own accounts for personal use. According to the investigation, more than $1 million in missing funds has been reported.
