After a 6-1 win over Martin County West on Monday, the United South Central girls’ tennis team looked to keep its perfect record in tact as they traveled to Fairmont Tuesday.

The Rebels (8-0) swept the doubles matches and took three-of four-matches in singles to record a 6-1 win over Fairmont.

“The girls played well today,” United South Central coach Kim Stevermer said. “The doubles teams are playing well with their partners and they are getting some great shots up at the net to end the points. The singles players are putting pressure on their opponent and starting to move well around the court.”

In singles, Ali Ramsley, Rachel Mattick and Robin Staloch all recorded wins for USC.

“Staloch continues to be a solid player for us as she again dominates her opponents,” Stevermer said. “ It’s great going into a match knowing that we have a player like her. She takes a lot of players by surprise.”

In Doubles, the Rebels earned a sweep as all three doubles pairs.

“The (No. 3) doubles duo of Ali Wood and Monica Bye have had a couple of great matches this week,” Stevermer said. “They have stayed focused and have a drive to win.”

After finishing back-to-back games, USC is off until Saturday when they travel to Mankato West.

“I am looking forward to a couple of off days for practice,” Stevermer said. “Next week we have three matches, two that are in our section, so it will be good to work on some things to be ready for this weekend and next week.”
