USC volleyball defeats LCWM

After opening with a win against Maple River, the United South Central volleyball team looked to pick up its second win of the season as it hosted Lake Crystal- Wellcome Memorial on Tuesday in Wells.

The Rebels defeated LCWM 25-16, 26-28, 25-23 and 25-20 to take a 3-1 win.

Kayla Stenzel led USC with 11 kills, while Danielle Koestler had nine kills.

Marielle Schultz recorded 16 assists for the Rebels.

USC also did very well from the service line.

Danielle Koestler went 14-for-14, Marielle Schultz went 13-for-13 and Erin Hotzler went 16-for-17 from the service line for the Rebels.

Koestler also went 29-for-36 hitting, while Val Sahr went 14-for-16 hitting.

“We played a little flat tonight and sometimes you play to the level of your competition,” USC volleyball coach Jolene Bute. “But we got the job done.”

USC is back in action on Thursday in Wells against Waterville-Elysian-Morristown.
