The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.

Reading Partners: Back in school now, children need adults to help them increase their reading skills for more student success this year. Training is provided the week of Sept. 19 so you just need a love of reading and a concern for children. Partner for an hour or two a week to help a child gain skill and confidence as a reader a significant lifetime skill. Call Stumme at 377-7433 to make a difference, one child at a time.

Big Island Rendezvous: What better way to celebrate Minnesota history than to tour with elementary student through the Big Island Rendezvous? Tour guides are needed to ensure that the classes get to their appointed area on schedule. Orientation is at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Bancroft Bay. You are needed for Sept. 30 or Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Help one day or two and get free admission to the weekend event. Call 377-7433 and ask for Stumme to register.
