Brown uses slogans after opposing them

I was surprised when I read Robin Brown’s defensive answer to a simple question on her voting record during the recent Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce debate. When Rich Murray asked her about her vote against the Race to the Top application for education reform, she stated, “We need to stop campaigning by slogan.”

Yet, when asked about her position on taxes, she gave the ultimate campaign slogan that she supported “fair taxation.” According to her voting record, her idea of fair taxation includes support for the fourth highest tax bracket in the country, higher taxes on Social Security and military retirement and even higher taxes on home ownership.

Given her pro-spending, anti-reform voting record, I can understand why Brown would prefer slogans over defending her voting record. I will be voting for Rich Murray — a candidate who will reform government.
