Achieve historic mark with 3 wins in quadrangular
The Lake Mills Bulldogs volleyball recorded a school record 39th win Thursday at the Hampton-Dumont quadrangular.
The Bulldogs (39-1) beat St. Ansgar, North Sentral Kossuth and Forest City en route to the historic mark.
“For them to hit this mark is amazing,” Lake Mills head coach Jim Boehmer said. “I am very proud of them and know they will continue to push to improve.”
The 39 wins eclipses the Bulldogs’ previous record of 28 wins set in 2008.
The Bulldogs opened the quadrangular by beating St. Ansgar 25-6 and 25-11. Josie Brackey led the team with eight kills and two serving aces.
Lake Mills beat NSK in their second match 25-16, 24-26 and 15-6. Brackey and Amanda Lampman each had nine kills, while Morgan Fjelsted had 28 ace assists.
The Bulldogs notched their 39th victory with a win over North Iowa Conference rival Forest City, winning 25-13 and 27-25. Brackey had team highs in kills (10) and digs (5), and Lindy Pins had three serving aces.
“I never look forward to Forest City,” Boehmer said. “They are tough and love to play the game.”
The Bulldogs begin their regional tournament Tuesday when they host St. Ansgar.
