Clippers beat Bernal, Knights 38-6

ALDEN — Alden-Conger’s Michael Bernal returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown Friday, but it wasn’t enough as the Cleveland Clippers football team beat the Knights 38-6.

“Our confidence is hurting right now,” Alden-Conger head coach Nick Willaert said. “We need to refocus and find ways to win games rather than find ways to lose games.”

The Clippers took a 26-0 lead into halftime after intercepting Knights’ quarterback Michael Reyerson for 103 yards and a touchdown.

The kickoff return was the lone Knights’ score, as Alden-Conger gave up 12 second-half points en route to the loss.

Bernal led the Knights with 59 rushing yards on 7 carries, and two receptions for 48 yards.. He also had an interception.

Reyerson chipped in 24 rushing yards on 12 carries, while going 2-of-14 passing for 48 yards and an interception.

Reyerson led the Knights defense with 11 tackles, and Jake Fawcett had 10 tackles and a sack.

The Knights play their regular season finale Wednesday as they host Nicollet.
