Missing Person

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office received a call concerning a missing person Friday at about 3:40 p.m. An unidentified 30-year-old male experiencing medical complications reportedly walked away from a residence on 255th Street, Albert Lea. Friends and law enforcement tried calling the man’s cell phone several times with no success and began to search the area.

The Clarks Grove Fire Department was paged for assistance in walking groves and fence lines to look for the missing male. An off-duty Freeborn County deputy arrived and provided two of his personal ATV four wheelers to assist in the search.

Shortly after the search started, the male was located by one of the deputies riding an ATV, about half-mile away from his residence lying in a grove, unconscious but breathing. the Clarks Grove First Responders attended to the male until the Albert Lea Medical Center ambulance arrived. ALMC ambulance staff treated the male until Mayo One landed at the scene. He was transported to St. Marys Rochester, in critical condition.

Barn Fire

Freeborn County Sheriff’s officials responded to a barn fire at 9:40 p.m. Friday, about 1-1/2 miles west of Manchester on County Road 25.

The Manchester Fire Department responded to the fire at 68843 255th St. and requested mutual aid from the Alden and Freeborn Fire Departments.

The blaze spread across the road and caught some grass and trees on fire, also. County Road 25 was closed for about 2-1/2 hours due to smoke and fire crossing the road.

The barn, which had received extreme damages from the tornadoes in June, was a total loss. The cause of the blaze is unknown.

The Albert Lea Medical Center ambulance squad was called to the scene, but no injuries were reported.
