Here are highlights in history for Oct. 31, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1984 — Linda Oliver, Albert Lea City Clerk since November 1978, resigned and would be working at Albert Lea Freezer Warehouse.

1974 — State officials were negotiating to purchase about 600 acres of land to be added to Helmer Myre State Park.

1964 — About 50 percent of the county’s corn crop had been harvested. Freeborn County Agent Eldon Senske said the average yield was 60 bushels per acre.
