I would like to familiarize the people of Albert Lea with one of the mayoral candidates, Vern Rasmussen Jr.

Vern has been a friend of mine for more than 25 years now, and I am proud to call him one of my best friends. Having said that, I want everyone to know that I would still cast my vote for the most qualified candidate who can do the best job as the mayor of Albert Lea and for the future of Albert Lea. Vern and his passion and love for Albert Lea makes him the best choice for the mayoral position. He has the experience of being on the City Council for six years and will not need the long period of time to get accustomed to the position like someone coming from the public sector with no experience would need. This is a crucial time for Albert Lea, and we will need to fill some very important positions in our city. Vern can express his ideas and thoughts through verbal communication so well that it is quite easy for a person to know where Vern stands on the issues and what his vision is for Albert Lea. Vern will research issues that present themselves during his term as mayor and can make the tough decisions and will act on those decisions. He wants to work together with his fellow council members for the good of the community and a positive future for our city.

Vern and his wife, Marilyn, hold jobs in the medical field that would allow them to live in a larger city or area of the state that could potentially give them more resources and income. They chose to come back to this area after their education was completed out of their desire to grow as a family in a more positive community. Vern has grown up and lived in this area and wants to contribute to Albert Lea’s potential and growth by being its mayor.

As a local business owner with a family of my own, I am excited to have Vern as our mayor and the potential he brings to better my life through his passion, and I know that he is excited to share his love and vision for our community with all the people of Albert Lea.
