Tigers swimming and diving falls to Rockets

Going into Tuesday’s meet against the two-time defending Big Nine champion Rochester John Marshall, the Albert Lea girls’ swimming and diving team knew it was going to be a tough night. The Tigers lost 89-87 with the Rockets swimming the last four events as exhibition.
Continuing to show strong improvements for the Tigers was the diving team. Karli Kriewall had a score of 209.15 to finish in third-place. Brianna See-Rockers ended in fifth-place with a score of 143.05 and Makenna Friehl finished sixth with a score of 139.80. Both See-Rockers and Friehl saw personal best scores.
The most exciting race for the night came in the 100 breaststroke where the Tigers had a 1-2-4 finish.
Morgan Field finished in first-place with a season best time of 1 minute and 13.03 seconds. Lindsey Horejsi came in second with a time of 1:14.53 while her sister, Amy Horejsi, swimming the event for the first time this season, finished in fourth with a section-qualifying time of 1:19.80.
Also having new section-qualifying times Tuesday were seventh-grader Anna Anderson in the 200 free with a time of 2:19.68, seventh-grader Ahnika Jensen, swimming the 100 butterfly in the junior varsity meet with a time of 1:15.27 and sophomore Kemma Bergland, swimming the 500 free for the first time this season, with a time of 6:16.49.
