Woman arrested for alleged residential burglaries

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested an area woman Thursday morning for her alleged involvement in more than seven recent residential burglaries.

According to authorities, the woman, Lynn Spicer, appeared to be looking for prescription medication in each alleged break-in. The burglaries occurred during the daytime hours.

A Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office news release states Spicer was arrested at about 9:15 a.m. Thursday after an off-duty deputy saw Spicer coming from behind a residence at 21409 700th Ave. in Armstrong.

After the deputy stopped the woman, other deputies arrived.

According to the release, deputies have been able to clear seven residential burglaries in the county by Spicer.

The Albert Lea Police Department has also been able to clear several of the recent burglaries in the city.

Spicer is being held pending formal charges and will most likely appear in Freeborn County District Court today.

Albert Lea Police Chief Dwaine Winkels said Spicer knew each one of the alleged victims. He warned people to be careful talking to people about injuries and medications.

He said the victims and Spicer all went to the same church.

Fire reported

A combine fire was reported at 5:46 p.m. Thursday at 63650 140th St. in Emmons, according to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.

Car versus bicycle crashes reported

Two car versus bicycle crashes were reported in Albert Lea on Thursday.

The first involved a girl, who reportedly drove her bike into a car at about 3:15 p.m. near the intersection of Front Street and First Avenue.

The second involved a car and a man on a bike near the intersection of West Clark Street and First Avenue. No one was injured. No other information was available as of press time.
