You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Respite Care: Sit with a frail, older person to keep them company for an hour or two while their family caregiver is out. No health care skills are required; just keep the person company, thus allowing the caregiver to attend to appointments once in a while.
Great Grains Market and Cafe: Help prepare food and clean up during a morning or afternoon shift once a week. Be part of an education process to stress healthy eating. Call 373-3000 for more information or to volunteer.
Senior Companions: Be a friend to a frail senior, helping in various ways like visiting, shopping, taking to medical appointments, etc. Your commitment is for 15 hours a week; those who meet income guidelines get a stipend in addition to mileage reimbursement.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
