You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.

Volunteer Driver: Help seniors maintain their independence even if they are no longer able to drive to their appointments. Ride Services of Freeborn County can always use additional drivers — one day a week or several. Sometimes drivers are needed to go to Rochester or Minneapolis, but often it is just around town. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage.

Headstart: Come in to Brookside Education Center and read stories to preschoolers. Classes are in session Monday through Thursday, late morning and early afternoon. Call and we can schedule a time that works for you. Come once or make it a habit.

Montessori School: Do you speak a language other than English? Come and share that language with the children a couple times a week. Call Louise Brady and Tammy at 373-5204 for details.

RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
