A 39-year-old Albert Lea man has been charged in Freeborn County District Court with two counts of criminal sexual conduct stemming from his alleged actions with a 12-year-old girl in August of 2009.
The man, Kikham Sayaphet, faces one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
He was charged earlier this month and remains in custody in the Freeborn County jail.
According to court documents, Albert Lea police were notified of the alleged sexual assault in March. The incident reportedly took place at 513 Fourth St. in Albert Lea.
Reports state the alleged victim lives in Shakopee; however, she and her brother were visiting Albert Lea the weekend of the alleged incident.
Court documents allege inappropriate conduct in a bedroom of the house after Sayaphet had come home from work late one night.
Sayaphet reportedly denied the contact to police during an interview.
He is being held in the Freeborn County jail on bail of $50,000 with conditions or $200,000 without conditions.
His next court appearance is scheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 6.
