Connect the dots from Soros to Trib

In your “thumbs down” section of the editorial in last Sunday’s paper where you mention Glenn Beck’s quote, “Here’s a Jewish boy helping send the Jews to the death camps,” this was a method of survival during a period in our past.

In my opinion, this statement is not an anti-semitic slam as Soros’ biographers record this as fact. Young George’s mother was Jewish and an atheist. She hated being Jewish and did much to influence her young son.

It seems that Americans are waking up and getting educated on the horrors that Soros has done in other countries. Now that he has his sights set on the U.S., those who care about our country’s founding principles are publishing the facts.

Perhaps your disdain for Beck is the fact that George Soros is using his finances to do everything to destroy capitalism and free speech. His representative met with a Fox News official trying to oust Beck and his comments. I’m sure Soros’ funds are doing their best to undermine free speech in the United States. His contributions to the Tides Foundation, ACORN (for that wonderful Marc Ritchie, secretary of state) and SEUI, to name only a few, have come under scrutiny. I also see that Soros funds the Free Press, of which I’m suspicious that the Tribune may be a party to. How convenient for our local readers to be taken in by your comments.

Don Imus having made amends for his “off the cuff remark” is now a Fox News contributor. Because his apology was accepted, perhaps it’s time to let that one lie. However, it appears you are calling for Beck’s firing for repeating what biographers have noted. Could it be that you and other editors/publishers have been given encouragement to blast Beck because of his uncovering and publishing the left wing’s initiatives?

Thank you for letting me rant.

Editor’s note: You have formed quite a conspiracy theory. George Soros has no connection to the Albert Lea Tribune. And the Free Press you mention is a Massachusetts outfit trying to reform the media. It is not part of the media. And it has never contacted the Tribune in any means whatsoever. Your letter is the first we had heard of it. The only reason we gave Beck a thumbs down is we were aghast at his anti-semitic comments, as any decent person would be. It was not about Beck’s political leanings.
