Drug unit arrests 2 for alleged meth

GLENVILLE — A 30-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were arrested for third-degree meth possession after a search warrant was conducted by authorities Saturday evening in this community.

As of press time, the names of the two people had not been released.

According to a news release, authorities with the South Central Drug Investigative Unit, along with the assistance of the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, the Albert Lea Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol, found surveillance video camera, drug paraphernalia with meth residue, baggies and digital scales.

When officers began going into the house, one of the officers outside of the house reportedly heard and saw an upstairs window break out. The man threw a meth pipe out of the window before officers arrived in the room in question.

Officers also found three children in the residence, ages 5, 7 and 11. They were picked up and cared for by a grandparent, according to the release.

The man and woman were arrested for third-degree meth possession for being in a school zone and child endangerment, a felony. They are expected to be charged in Freeborn County District Court today.
