The Freemond Madson Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary met Monday, Nov. 8, at the American Legion Hall with President Eunice Hatleli presiding.

Opening ceremonies were held and business reports and correspondence were read after which the charter was draped for auxiliary sister Lucille Pagel, Joy Bergstrom, Virginia Hills and Pat National President, Joan Katkus from Alaska.

A $20 donation was made for the Minnesota Soldiers Scholarship.

Discussion was of the Veterans Day activities the auxiliary would participate in. They planned to distribute Buddy Poppies to the Southwest Middle School student and visitors before the Veterans Day program. Two members and post members were to present a program at the St. John’s Home veterans breakfast, serve rolls and coffee for participants in the parade and programs, and prepare and serve the noon luncheon at the Legion Hall. Also visiting the fifth grade at Hawthorne school with some veterans who will visit with the students and give each a poppy.

The First District meeting will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 9:30 a.m. at the Olaf B. Damm Post 1216 at Austin. President Sonia Tatje presiding.

There will be a joint post and auxiliary pot luck supper at 6 p.m. before the regular meeting Monday, Dec. 14.
