Gameday preview: Lake Mills vs. Western Christian

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Lake Mills Bulldogs volleyball teams takes on the Western Christian Wolfpack in the Class 2A state championship game at center court in the U.S. Celular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Let’s take a look at the two teams:
No. 1 Western Christian (46-3)
Who are they?: The Wolfpack are from the northwest corner of Iowa and in the Lake Conference. Their coach is Tammi Veerbeek who has a 583-82-10 career coaching record.
This is the Wolfpack’s 28th appearance at the Iowa state volleyball tournament and 10th consecutive. They have reached the championship match 10 of the past 12 years and are seeking their 13th title.
They returned two all-staters this season in Kayla Gesink and Abby Horstman. Both played on last year’s team that reached the state semifinals.

Who are they?: After losing in the regional finals four years in a row, the Bulldogs are in the state tournament for the fourth time in school history — the first since 2001 — and are in their first state championship match.
The team is led by North Iowa Conference Player of the Year Morgan Fjelstad, who currently leads all Class 2A players in assists per game for the tournament. The Bulldogs enter the state title match having won 28 consecutive matches.
