The new bridge at the Interstate 90 Business Loop in Austin from westbound I-90 to Oakland Place Northeast is now open to traffic, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The bridge has been closed since March as crews constructed the new bridge.
Twelfth Avenue Northwest/Eighth Avenue Northwest near Turtle Creek is scheduled to open to traffic this week. The road has been closed since March as crews constructed the new eastbound I-90 bridge at Turtle Creek.
Intermittent lane restrictions in both directions on I-90 under the new I-90 Business Loop bridge will be in place through mid November as crews complete final project tasks.
The project, known as the “Bridges of Mower County,” started in July 2009 and features the construction of one bridge over Dobbins Creek, eastbound and westbound bridges over Turtle Creek and one bridge at the I-90 Business Loop.
Lunda Construction is the primary contractor for the $12.8 million project, which is partially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones. For statewide travel information, visit www.511mn.org, call 511 or log on to www.mndot.gov.
