Lori Schumann, 50, Kiester

Lori Ann Schumann, 50, of Kiester, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at her home in Kiester surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. The family encourages you to wear pink in her honor. Visitation will be Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the services at the church on Sunday. The Rev. Dick Steffen will officiate and burial will be in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Kiester. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements.

Schumann

Lori Ann Schumann was born Jan. 8, 1960, the daughter of Leon and Diane (Thorson) Larson in Blue Earth. Lori was a graduate of Kiester High School in 1978. She earned her early childhood education degree from the University of Minnesota, Waseca. On Oct. 25, 1980, she married Lee John Schumann in Kiester. She was a well-known advocate for breast cancer awareness, and is one of the originating founders of Bowl for a Cure. In the fall of 1994 until recently, she worked at USC School as a paraprofessional/secretary of transportation, activities director and with community education. Lori loved shopping and spending time with friends and family. She loved being at Uncle Wayne’s lake. Lori was very passionate about athletics and was an avid fan of USC sports, the Twins and the Vikings.

She is survived by her husband, Lee Schumann, of Kiester; one son, Anthony (Melissa) Schumann, of Rosemount; one daughter, Lacy Schumann, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; her granddaughter, Layla Schumann; one sister, Jodi (Jeff) Willaby of Kiester; one brother, Scott (Christy) Larson, of Cottage Grove; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jay (Roz) of Lakefield, Todd and Mary of Lakefield, Chris (Cheri) of Kiester, Mike (Carrie) of Hutchinson; mother-in-law, Marie Schumann of Lakefield. She is also survived by nieces: Amanda, Ava, Abby, Josie, Kelsey, Audrey and Julia; and nephews: Jake, Kyle, Nathan, C.J., Markael, and Jared, as well as several cousins and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law, Clarence Schumann.
