CLARKS GROVE — A 23-year-old Hollandale woman died early Saturday morning after a vehicle rollover on State Highway 251 two miles east of Clarks Grove.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Jerri R. Mondeel was driving a 1998 Chevy Cavalier eastbound on Highway 251 — east of the Interstate 35 interchange toward Hollandale — when she reportedly ran off the road to the right, over corrected and went into the north ditch and rolled.

The incident occurred at 4:46 a.m. Saturday.

According to the report, the roads were dry at the time of the crash, and it is unknown whether alcohol was involved.

No other automobiles were involved.

Freeborn County Sheriff Mark Harig said the area of Highway 251 where the crash occurred is notorious for deer crossing the road, though he is not sure whether this was a factor.

Mondeel was a 2005 Albert Lea High School graduate.

She was named to the Tribune’s All-Area Softball Team in 2003 and 2004 during her sophomore and junior years. She also played varsity hockey and soccer at the high school.

By 1 p.m. Saturday, 56 people had posted comments to Mondeel’s Facebook page saying how much they would miss her.
