Seventh-grade students at Southwest Middle School have been playing disc golf in physical education classes. The nine-hole disc golf course includes goals and discs and was purchased by the phy ed department two years ago. The staff and students think it’s a great addition to the PE curriculum. The unit is portable and students are able to create different course designs to play on the playing fields. Maps are drawn and score cards are used to simulate a real disc golf course experience. The students have found disc golf to be a good way to exercise, be creative and have fun all at the same time.
