Two people were injured Tuesday afternoon after one vehicle broadsided another near the intersection of East Main Street and Prospect Avenue.

Albert Lea Police Chief Dwaine Winkels said Larissa Cook, 22, of Glenville and Jennifer Farris, 26, of Alden were both transported by ambulance to Albert Lea Medical Center.

The extent of their injuries is unknown.

Winkels said the crash happened around 1:15 p.m.

Cook, driving a Honda Civic, was stopped at the stop sign on Prospect Avenue near the Shell gas station, when she pulled out in the path of Farris, the driver of a 2008 Ford Edge, who was eastbound on Main Street.

He said Cook had to be extricated from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life. The Albert Lea Fire Department assisted with the extrication.

ALMC spokeswoman Jennifer Levisen said Farris was treated and released, and Cook was treated and transported. It is unknown where she was sent.

The Tribune attempted to discover to which hospital she was sent. Calls were left unreturned as of press time.
